MVHS Girls Soccer
The Moapa Valley High School Girls Soccer team hosted its final match of the season with a game against Cheyenne on Thursday, Oct. 28. The Pirates dispatched the Desert Shields with a final score of 8-0.

The Pirates dominated on both sides of the field. Two Moapa players scored hat tricks in the match. Freshman Mallory Tobler and junior Talli Fairchild scored three goals apiece. The other two goals were scored for the Pirates by Brooke Sherwood and Ariana Lester.
Assists were made by Tobler and Paige Tobler who had one apiece.

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, the Pirates will travel to the Regional Playoffs at Bettye Wilson Park in Las Vegas. In the first round, they will take on #8 seed Mojave High School beginning at 6 pm. The Pirates beat Mojave 5-1 earlier on Oct. 22.

VVHS Girls Soccer

The Virgin Valley High School Girls Soccer team finished the regular season well last week shutting out Cheyenne 1-0, Mojave 6-0 and Chaparral 8-0. The Dawgs finished regular play with an 11-2-1 season record.

All 11 of those wins were by shutouts as the Bulldog defense, led by midfielders, closed down opponents.
The Bulldogs shutout Cheyenne 1-0 on Friday October 22 led by Katrina Beltran’s lone goal with the assist going to Emma Hughes.

The Dawgs 6-0 win Tuesday over the Mojave Rattlers was led by Dani Correa and freshman Natali Isidro with two goals each followed by Emma Hughes and Natalia Zarate with one apiece.

Scoring assists for the Dawgs were Beltran, Hughes, Emily Jimenez and Jackie Valdez.
Virgin Valley seemed to find their game against the Rattlers scoring immediately 30 seconds into the match.

“Our seniors controlled the midfield,” said Bulldog coach Scott Trimming. “Our center backs Kacie Garrett and Alexia De Santiago did not let Mojave penetrate the back line.”

The Lady Dawgs faced off against Chaparral on Wednesday evening during senior awards night coming away with an 8-0 victory.

The Bulldogs saw five different players strike goal in the first 25 minutes of play as they completely overwhelmed the Chargers.

Scoring goals for the Dawgs were Josselyn Hernandez, Emma Hughes, Dani Correa, Angela Ludena and Jaymie Hulet.

The Bulldogs ended the first half of play with a 5-0 advantage. Correa added her second goal of the game to begin the second half, followed by goals from Raeanna Slack, Natalia Zarate.
Hulet had two assists followed by Correa, Ludena, and Hughes with one assist each.

“Our girls played clinical soccer,” said Coach Trimming. “We found holes in the inexperienced Chaparral defense which made scoring at will possible.”

The Bulldogs will play next week at the 3A Southern Nevada Regionals at Bettye Wilson Park in Las Vegas. They go into the playoffs as the #2 seed in the Desert Division.
In the first round, the Bulldogs will go up against #6 seed Durango at 6 pm.
