MVHS Track Competes On The Road

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams traveled to Legacy High School on Wednesday, Mar. 30 where they faced teams from Centennial, Las Vegas and host Legacy.

The Pirate girls struggled in the sprints. But they found strength in the distance and field events.
Linn Engelgren placed third in the 800 meters with Brook Sherwood finishing sixth. Sherwood followed with a sixth in the 1600 meters.
Chyler Cooper finished third in the 100 meter hurdles. Monique Whipple was sixth.

Talley Blackwell placed second in the 300 meter hurdles. Allison Mills was fifth and Whipple sixth.
Sydney Reese won the high jump clearing 5 foot 4 inches. Blackwell placed fourth while Cooper took sixth.

Shanlin Totten placed third in the Long jump and triple jump. Reese finished fourth.
Paige Bodily won the Pole Vault with a vault of 8-0. Aubrey Wolfley placed second.

The Pirates swept the top spots in discus. Neena Tromblom won with a throw of 90-11. Leyah Carvajal placed second, Sierra Wolfley third, Shayla Wolfley fourth, Totten fifth and Claire Cox sixth.
Totten won the shot put with a throw of 29-10. Carvajal was third, Haylie Western fourth and Sage Overson fifth.

The Pirate boys team had CJ Anderson place sixth in the 200 meters.
Ethan Witter ran fourth in the 400 meters with Shayden Jensen placing fifth.
Trevor Witter placed second in the 800 meters with Ethan Witter third.

Anderson placed second in the 110 meter hurdles while Nicholas Leavitt placed third. Anderson also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles while Jonathon Monk placed third, Talon Schraft fifth and Austin Robison sixth.

Degan Jones finished second in the high jump. Nikolas Gaebler was sixth in the long jump. Jayme Carvajal placed sixth in the triple jump. Jackson Burt was fifth in the pole vault.

Eli Cox won the discus with a throw of 140 feet. Jesse Meeks placed third, Carvajal fourth, Logan Stewart fifth and Sam Wheeler sixth.
Cox placed second in the shot put while Tyler Rowley placed third and Stewart fifth.

On Friday the Pirates sent a few athletes to the Vegas Elite Twilight Invitational. Sydney Reese won the high jump with a jump of 5-4. Paige Bodily placed sixth in the pole vault.
Ethan Witter won the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.24. Jedidiah Stephens placed fifth and Cyrus Katich eighth. Katich placed second in the 1600 meters.

CJ Anderson placed third in the 110 meter hurdles. Eli Cox won the Discus with a throw of 135 feet.
On Saturday another group went to Shadow Ridge for the Red Rock Running Invitational. Eighteen schools participated in this one.

Emma Humes won the 1600 meters with a time of 5:33. Sasha Barns placed fifth in the 3200 meters while Talley Blackwell placed fourth in both the 300 meters hurdles and high jump. Leyah Carvjal was fifth in the discus while Totten placed third in the shot put. Marcus Shambaugh won the 3200 meters for the boys while Eli Cox placed fifth in both the shot put and discus.
