MVHS Track Teams Compete At Arbor View

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams participated in one competition last week. In addition, eight other athletes performed in the Las Vegas Track Classic at Desert Oasis on Saturday.

In the Track Classic only the top 24 athletes in each event are allowed to participate. These 24 are chosen from the entries who were signed up for the meet.

Moapa Valley had Miriam Werner competing in the 800 meters and placing 16th with a time of 2:53.9.
Neena Tromblom placed 11th in the discus with a throw of 80-01.

The boys team saw Marcus Shambaugh place 12th in the 800 meter at 2:12.9, with Jedidiah Stephens coming in 18th at 2:16.36, and Cyrus Katich 2:27.62 at 29th.

The same three ran the 1600 meters with Katich placing 2nd, 4:26.5. Shambaugh 6th, 4:39.9 and Stephens 15th, 5:01.7.

On Tuesday, April 5, MVHS took the full teams to Arbor View to compete against, host Arbor View, Indian Springs, Pahranagat Valley, Shadow Ridge and Spring Mountain.
Talli Fairchild placed 3rd in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:04.57.
Miriam Werner took 3rd in the 3200 meters with a time of 15:10.9.
Chyler Cooper finished 5th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.91.
Cooper also placed 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 4-4.

Leyah Carvajal placed 2nd in the discus with a throw of 91-11. Neena Tromblom placed 3rd and Shanlin Totten fourth.
Totten won the Shot Put with a throw of 31-6.5 with Carvajal placing 4th and Claire Cox 5th.

On the boys’ side, Marcus Shambaugh won the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.7.
Ethan Witter won the 1600 meters with a time of 4:48.37, Shambaugh placed 2nd.
Cyrus Katich won the 3200 meters with a time of 10:42.69. Jeddiah Stephens placed 4th.
CJ Anderson won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.17. Jonathan Mork placed third and Austin Robinson 5th.

Anderson also won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.97. Jonathan Mork placed 3rd.
Peyton Neilson placed 2nd in the High jump, 5-6; and he placed 4th in the Triple Jump at 33-3.
Eli Cox won the Discus with a throw of 122-4, Logan Stewart placed 3rd.
Stewart also placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 39-5.
