The Progress
The Professional Long Drivers Association 2022 Tour continues in Mesquite on May 13-15 at the Mesquite Sports and Events center.
The PLDA announced on Sunday April 24 that they were reopening the Open Division Tour Event to expand the field to meet increased registration needs.
The Diamond in the Desert Event is one of many in 2022 to determine the final field for the PLDA’s World Championship which also will be held in Mesquite on October 2-8, 2022.
The PLDA Tour and Championship is a crowd pleaser wherever it is held as golfers and fans alike are amazed at the distances the professionals get from their drives. Each qualifying long driver receives six balls to hit in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The longest drive receives the highest amount of points to determine who moves on in the round robin format until only two drivers remain.
PLDA World Champion Kyle Berkshire is one of the favorites to win the Mesquite Event Open Division along with German fan favorite Martin Borgmeir.
The Event schedule begins on Friday May 13 at 12 pm for local golfer qualifying and continues on Saturday May 14 with Amateurs at 8 am, Regionals at 10 am and Seniors at 1:30 pm.
The much anticipated Open and Ladies Division will begin on Sunday May 15 at 8 am.
