The Moapa Valley High School Softball team will be advancing to the fourth round in the NIAA South Regional Tournament without having to play a third round game. SLAM Academy, the Pirates’ scheduled opponent in the third round, forfeited the game early on Wednesday morning, May 11. Thus the game scheduled for this afternoon on the Pirate field at 4 pm has been cancelled.
The reason for the SLAM forfeiture was reportedly a lack of players available to field a full team. The forfeiture takes SLAM out of the Regional tournament.
The win will advance the Pirate team to the next round which will be played on Thursday, May 12, at 2 pm. In that game, the Pirates will have to face the loser of today’s game in pitting Pahrump against Clark High School. The location of that game will be dependent upon who wins tonight’s game at Virgin Valley vs. Boulder City.
