MVHS Volleyball

The Moapa Valley High School Volleyball team won its two league matches last week. In a home match played on Tuesday, Sept. 20 against Somerset Losee, the Pirates triumphed 3-0. Then, on Thursday, the Moapa team travelled to Henderson to face Coral Academy where they won again, 3-0.
In the Losee match, Sydney Reese scored 12 kills during the match.
Haley Evans served 7 aces on 22 attempts.
The Pirates won it in three sets: 25-9, 25-14 and 25-7.
Against Coral Academy the Pirates outscored Coral in a clean sweep: 25-19, 25-20 and 25-12.
The Pirates are 6-0 in league play and 13-9 overall.
The Pirates will travel to Sunrise Mountain on Wednesday this week.

MVHS Girls Soccer

The Pirates pounded Chaparral, 11-0 in a home match played on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
It was a scorefest for the Moapa team with eight Pirate players finding the net. Abbie Hammons, Mallory Tobler and Callie Bennion scored two goals apiece in the game. Added to that were single goals by Lexy Fullman, Aubrey Wolfley, Haylie Western, Emmy Cornwall and Taytum Yardley.
Hammons, Tobler and Hannah Fullmer each chalked up assists in the match.
Pirate keeper Savannah Burt and the Moapa defense put up a solid front and kept the Cowboys scoreless.

VVHS Tennis

The Virgin Valley tennis team ran into some top notch competition last week facing The Meadows School of Las Vegas and Moapa Valley.
The boys fell to Meadows 16-2 with the girls losing 12-5.
Angel Garcia and TJ Guerrero each won a match in singles play for the Bulldogs. All five of the points earned for the Lady Bulldogs were by forfeit.
Against Moapa Valley, the boys were blanked 18-0 while the girls lost 15-3.
The doubles team of Sadie Cowley and McKadie Cowley went 2-1 in their matches for the Lady Bulldogs. The doubles team of Arianne Gardner and Lindsey Marshall won one match for VVHS.
