By DAVE BELCHER

The Progress

Moapa Valley traveled to Valley High School in Las Vegas on Friday, Sept. 30, where they thrashed the Vikings 51-0. It was a bloodbath! The Pirates dominated the game from the very start.

The Vikings received the kopening kickoff and fumbled, the Pirates recovered it giving Moapa a first down at the Viking 20 yard line.

It took just one play for Pirate quarterback Cyrus Katich to loft a pass to Jayden Bunker in the endzone for a 20 yard touchdown. The extra point failed for a 6-0 Pirate lead.

Valley punted in after their first three plays, but failed to down the ball when it came to a stop. Ethan Stankoski ran to the ball, picked it up and ran 62 yards to the end zone while the Vikings were still trying to figure out what was happening. Cash Keller kicked the extra point for a 13-0 lead.

Stankoski recovered a Viking fumble near midfield after a completed screen pass. The Pirates took over at their own 47 yard line. Shandon Matheson threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Degan Jones then Keller kicked the extra point for a 20-0 Pirates lead.

Valley was forced to punt again giving the Pirates the football at the Valley 40. Landon Wrzenski finished off the drive with a 19 yard touchdown run. Keller kicked the extra point for a 27-0 Pirates lead.
That was all just in the first quarter.

Valley would punt again which was downed at the Pirates 1 yard line. Wrzenski then scored a couple of plays later with a 66 yard run as he broke several tackles on the way. Keller kicked the extra point for a 34-0 lead.

The Pirates would score once more in the first half. Matheson threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Bunker. Matheson was four for four passing in the drive. Keller made the extra point for a 41-0 lead.
Jacob Dominguez scored the final touchdown of the night with an 8 yard run. Keller’s kick gave the Pirates a 48-0 lead.

But Keller wasn’t finished scoring. Later in the fourth quarter, Cash kicked a 25-yard field goal for the final score, 51-0.
The Pirates are undefeated with a 7-0 record overall and 2-0 in league play.
