The Moapa Valley High School Volleyball team played two games last week and didn’t allow either opponent to win a single set.

The Pirates faced their Virgin Valley High School rivals on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the MVHS gym. It was a 3-0 shutout over the Bulldogs.
Moapa Valley completely dominated the first two games, 25-9 and 25-11.
Virgin Valley rallied in the third game but still lost 25-23.
“Tough serving from the girls was a key component in the victory,” said MVHS head coach Mandie Matheson.

As a team the Pirates scored 13 service aces during the match. MVHS junior Alexa Nuckles led the team with 4. Sophomore Sienna Neilson and junior Brooke Houston each got 3.
Besides her serving, Nuckles dug out 6 balls.
“We were led by strong backrow play and serving from Alexa,” said Matheson.
“Offensively we were led by Halle Evans, Sydney Reese and Sienna Nielsen,” Matheson added.

The Pirates had 30 kills in the match. Reese had a monster game at the net scoring 15 kills and having 4 blocks. Halle Evans scored 4 blocks herself. Brooke Houston finished with 23 assists.
Virgin Valley was led by Riley Price who served 4 aces and had 3 kills.

Moapa Valley traveled to Somerset Losee coming away with a 3-0 match win. The Pirates made short work of the Lions winning 25-5, 25-9 and 25-8.

Moapa Valley is now 17-9 overall and 9-0 in league play. They travel to Sunrise Mountain on Wednesday then host Rancho on Thursday at 6 pm in the second to last week of the regular season.
