The Progress
Moapa Valley’s 3-0 win over Eldorado last week gives the Moapa team the #1 seed from the Southern Desert League. The Pirates will host opening match of the Regional playoffs against the Clark Chargers who are the #7 seed.
Moapa has beaten the Chargers twice this season winning 5 games to none.
Boulder City, the only southern 3A team to beat the Pirates, will host the eighth seeded Pahrump Valley Trojans.
The Eagles beat the Trojans twice both times 3-0. In fact, no one in the 3A south has beaten the Eagles in a single game. Boulder City has shut out everyone in the region.
Coral Academy, the second seed from the Desert league, will host Cadence the fifth seed. SLAM, the second seed from the Mountain, will host Virgin Valley, the sixth seed. The higher seed will host each match.
The games will start Tuesday then continue Thursday with the championship game on Saturday.
In the North, the seeding isn’t entirely settled yet. Spring Creek is scheduled to play Churchill County on Tuesday, a game that was postponed earlier in the season. That would mean a trip across the state to get the game in. But since Churchill’s season is finished, it may not happen, forcing Elko and Spring Creek to go to a tiebreaker for the higher seed.
Dayton is the top seed and will get the winner of #4 Truckee vs. Elko or Spring Creek (whichever ends up with the #5 seed).
South Tahoe is the second seed and will play the winner of Lowry and Elko or Spring Creek.
The Northern Tournament will be played at Hug High School on Friday and Saturday.
