The Progress
The Virgin Valley High School baseball team obliterated a Valley High School, 16-0, in the Bulldogs’ first home game of the season on Thursday afternoon, March 2. The game lasted only three innings.
It was the 19th straight win for the Bulldogs who are the 2022 reigning 3A State Champion baseball team.
It was a brief blood-letting of a game. The Bulldogs racked up four runs in the first inning alone. Then they unleashed scoring 12 more runs in the second inning. The Vikings were held scoreless through the top of the third when the carnage was halted.
The Bulldogs scored all 16 runs on only six hits. Bryce Intagliata and Mason Montoya batted in three runners apiece in the game. Dodger Smith brought home two more. Kurt Felix, Chandon Jensen, Drake Wakefield and Martin Jordan each hit 1 RBI in the game.
Felix was the winning pitcher giving away no hits and striking out seven.
The Bulldogs will host SLAM from Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon, March 7 beginning at 3:30 pm. Then they will be hosting the big Cactus Classic tournament over the weekend from Thursday through Saturday.
