The Moapa Valley High School Softball team steamrolled through a Pahranagat Valley team in a spring break week game played on Tuesday, March 14 in Alamo. The final score was 18-3 Pirates.
The Lady Pirates were already leading by 9 runs by the end of the third inning. But the Moapa team zipped up the game by tallying up nine more runs in the top of the fifth inning.
In the first inning, with loaded bases, Rielie Ohara hit a ground ball out to right field and brought all three Pirate base runners home.
The Moapa team put three more runs on the board in the second inning. Reagan Stankoski reached first on an error bringing home Sarah Moss. Right after that, Andie Woods hit a ground ball single bringing in Mikelle Millett for the second run of the inning. Kyndall Longman hit a single on a line drive to center field bringing in Stankoski. Finally, Ohara stepped up again and hit another right field grounder which brought in both Woods and Longman.
After holding the Panthers scoreless, the Pirates were up 8-0 at the end of the second inning.
In the third inning, Longman hit a ground ball and reached first on an error, bringing Stankoski home to put a 9-0 lead on the board that lasted until the fifth inning scorefest.
Taking advantage of a series of Panther errors, the Moapa team put up another nine runs in the fifth inning to double their previous score.
The Panthers were able to put three points on the board by the end of the 5th inning to make the final score.
Ohara got six RBI in the game on only two hits. Longman and Woods each go three hits and three RBI. Anderson connected with the ball for two hits in the game.
Woods pitched the win for the Pirates allowing three hits and striking out 9.
The Lady Pirates will travel to Las Vegas to play Desert Pines on Thursday, Mar. 23 at 3:30 pm. Then the Moapa team will return home and host Valley High School on Saturday. First pitch is at 10 am.
