The Progress
The Virgin Valley High School softball team won two games last week and had a game rained out.
The Lady Bulldogs destroyed Valley of Las Vegas, 34-3, on the road Wednesday, Mar. 22 and then blanked Boulder City, 10-0, at home on Saturday. Last Monday’s home game against Desert Pines was washed away by heavy rains.
The results leave VVHS at 12-0 overall on the season.
Against Valley, the Lady Bulldogs erupted for 24 runs in the top of the first inning and the rout was on.
The game ended after just three innings because of the mercy rule.
VVHS had 30 base hits in the contest. Reggi Frei and Hali Jackson led the way with five hits each. Frei stroked two triples and a double while driving in seven runs. Jackson had a double and six RBI.
Davie Slack added four hits, including two doubles, and had four RBI while Natalie Plancarte chipped in three hits and drove in three runs.
The Lady Bulldogs also took advantage of a shaky Valley defense that committed 10 errors.
In the victory over Boulder City, the Lady Bulldogs scored in every inning in a game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.
Riley Price went the distance inside the circle giving up two hits while walking two and striking out nine batters.
Brooklin Montoya led the way offensively belting a home run and double among her three hits. She also drove in three runs.
Destiny Moeai, Frei and Slack each had two hits with Frei doubling in a run. Ana Tausinga also added an RBI double.
Virgin Valley will be on the road this week for games at Pahrump Valley on Tuesday and Pahranagat Valley in Alamo on Thursday.
