The Moapa Valley High School track and field teams traveled to Canyon Springs High School in Las Vegas to participate in the Sam Germany Invitational on Saturday, March 25. The top four athletes in each event for the 14 participating teams were invited to compete in the meet.
Degan Jones ran 11:41 in the 100 meters for the Pirates to place fifth in the meet. He also placed third in the high jump clearing 5-10.
Marcus Shambaugh finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06.17. He also won the 1600 meters with a time of 4:40.46.
Mordechai Yadegar won the 3200 meter race with a time of 9:52.21. Shambaugh placed second in the event at 9:57.86. Hal Thompson finished fifth with his time of 11:13.67.
Brody Redd placed sixth in the 110 meter hurdles.
Talon Schraft placed fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.56.
Logan Stewart placed third in the discus with a 115-01.
Marcus Shambaugh won the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet. Jackson Burt finished fourth with his vault of 8-06.
Tanner Hammons jumped 38-00 for fifth place in the triple jump.
On the girls team, Brooke Sherwood finished in sixth place in the 1600 meter race with a time of 6-19.54.
Allison Mills placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.95. She finished sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 55.37. Taylee Bunch finished seventh with her time of 56.53.
Leyah Carvajal placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 92-05.
Aubrey Wolfley placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 8 feet.
The Pirates had a midweek meet at Arbor View on the schedule that was canceled due to incelement weather.
Moapa Valley will host the Richard Lewis invitational on Friday afternoon, March 31.
