VVHS Track Teams Compete At Coronado Weekday Meet

The Virgin Valley High School Track and Field teams travelled to Coronado High School in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Mar. 22 for a weekday meet. Six schools attended the event. The VVHS teams came away from the meet with 8 first place medals and 18 more placements in the top five of various events.

The Bulldog boys’ team had four first place finishes at the meet.

VVHS distance runner Owen Rappleye won the 3200 meter race with a time of 10:51.55; more than 17 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. Bulldog runner Isaac Greig took third in the race at 11:23.40.

Jeremy Gosset won the shotput event with a throw of 42-3; a personal record.

Chase Otteson came out in front on the Long Jump event with a personal record jump of 20-7. Teammate Wyatt Leavitt came in third place in that event at 19-4.5.
Otteson also won the Triple Jump with a leap of 39-4. Joaquin Ramirez took fourth for the Bulldogs at 30-11.

Otteson took fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 56.45.

Wyatt Leavitt tied for first place in the High Jump event with a personal record-breaking jump of 5-8, which matched that of Mason Terrill for Boulder City.

Dylan Barnum took fifth in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:35.57.

In the 110 Hurdle event Rylan Jones represented VVHS at 4th place at 22.85.

The 300 meter hurdle race saw VVHS athlete Joaquin Ramirez take fourth place at 51:56 and Jones in fifth at 53:50.

The VVHS 4×100 relay team took third at the meet with a time of 47.49.

Ashton Thornton took third place for Virgin Valley in the Pole Vault with a vault of 7-0.

The Girls team got 3 first place finishes at the meet.
Audrey Fiso won two of them. Fiso hurled the shot put 32-8.5 for first place in that event. Then she won the discus event with a throw of 81-1.

Mattea Wahl won the Triple Jump event for the Bulldogs with a leap of 26-7.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Tori Faught ended in fourth place with a time of 21.1.
The girls’ 4×100 relay team took third place with a time of 55.38.

The Bulldogs took the fourth place spot in the High Jump event with Hailey Vellinga jumping 4-2. Tori Faught tied for fifth place in the event at 4-0.
Vellinga took 3rd place in the pole vault at 7-6.
