The Virgin Valley High School baseball team faced two 3A Mountain League opponents last week splitting the two games.
The Bulldogs, shut out Clark High School, 7-0, on Tuesday, March 28 behind the pitching of ace Bryce Intagliata. Intagliata helped his cause by leading the hitters with three hits in four at bats.
The Dawgs scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning on one hit to lead 2-0. The Dawgs added one run in the bottom of the fifth inning on hits by Drake Wakefield, Intagliata and Kurt Felix increasing their lead to 3-0.
The Bulldogs blew the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth inning with 4 runs on only 3 hits and 3 errors by the Chargers.
Intagliata pitched a complete game for the win allowing only four hits and striking out 10 Chargers. The loss was the Chargers first in 3A ball giving them a 5-1 record.
The Bulldogs 3A record went to 3-0 with the win before traveling to Pahrump on Saturday.
But the Bulldogs bats fell silent to Pahrump Valley pitcher Kyle McDaniel. McDaniel allowed only 4 hits in a 4-0 win over the Dawgs. McDaniel struck out 11 Dawgs in a complete game win.
The Trojans scored one run in the first inning and finished the scoring in the bottom of the third with 3 runs.
Kurt Felix allowed 4 runs and suffered the loss. Martin Jordan had three shutout innings in relief.
The loss dropped the Dawgs season record to 8-6 and 3-1 in 3A Division play.
