The Moapa Valley High School softball team easily defeated Canyon Springs, 16-1, in a game held on Monday, April 3 in Moapa Valley. It was the only game of the week for the Lady Pirates.
The win brought Moapa Valley to a 7-4 overall season record, 3-1 in league.

The Pioneers stepped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Canyon Springs scored a run on a hit by K. Hudson. But the visiting team didn’t cross home plate again for the rest of the game.

By the end of the first inning, the Pirates had already scored two runs and taken the lead. The first was when Reagan Stankoski scored on a ground out hit by Lexi Fullman. The second was on a line drive triple, hit by Tyelar Anderson.

The Moapa team pretty much sealed the deal in the second inning scoring 8 runs in the frame.
Stankoski hit a grounder bringing in Emmy Cornwall and Kylie Neil on the play. A few minutes later Fullman grounded out again but brought in Brooklyn Reynolds. Kyndall Longman brought home Stankoski and Andie Wood on a fly ball double. Longman then stole third and made it home on an error by the Pioneer catcher. Anderson made it home on an error after a single hit by Kenzie Hughes. Hughes later scored on another error.

The onslaught continued in the third and fourth innings. The Pirates chalked up 2 runs in the third and fourth innings before the game was called on the mercy rule.

Longman and Anderson each got two hits in the game with Stankoski, Wood, Hughes and Neil each getting one. Fullman got 3 RBI all on ground outs. Stankoski, Longman and Hughes each got 2 RBI.
Neil pitched the win for the Pirates allowing only one hit and striking out four batters.

The Pirates have a clear schedule this week. They will return to the field on Monday, April 17 when they play Clark in Las Vegas. They will hit the road again the next day to face Virgin Valley in Mesquite at 3:30 pm. Then they will continue the road trip to face Canyon Springs again on Friday, April 21 in North Las Vegas.
