The Moapa Valley High School Baseball team played two games early last week and won both of them by a wide margin.
To start off the week, on Monday, April 10, the Pirates travelled to Western High School in Las Vegas where they beat the Warriors 14-7.
The Pirates built a 4 run lead in the top of the second inning, then led 6-1 after the third. Western came back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth cutting the Pirate lead to 7-5.
After neither team scored in the fifth Moapa Valley put three runs up in the sixth, then four more in the seventh for the win.
Tyson Staheli had a big game with four runs batted in on two hits. Landon Wrzesinski had two hits and scored 3 runs. Chandler Evans scored 2 runs, 2 RBI with 2 hits. Tyson Pettingill hit a double that scored three runs in that one hit.
The Pirates finished with 11 hits in the game while the Warriors had 7.
On the downside, the Pirates had 6 errors in the game.
Garrett Hadley got the win striking out 7 and allowing 3 earned runs.
The Pirates traveled to Eldorado on Tuesday and beat the Sun Devils, 16-3. Moapa Valley scored six runs in the top of the second then 9 in the top of the sixth to end the game.
Pettingill hit three triples in the game while Evans drove in four runs on 2 hits. Wrzesinski had a couple of hits and 3 RBI.
The Pirates travel to Cheyenne on Tuesday. Then they will hit the road to Mesquite on Friday to go up against a juggernaut Virgin Valley team. That game starts at 3:30.
