MVHS Track Attends Arbor View Meet

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams made a third trip to Arbor View High School last week to compete with three other schools in a weekly meet held Wednesday, April 19.

Ethan Witter finished in third place in the 400 meters with Gary Leavitt finishing seventh. Witter also finished ninth in the 800.

Marcus Shambaugh placed second in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:38. Hal Thompson was seventh, Isaac Thompson ninth and William Anderson tenth.

Isaac Thompson placed third in the 3200 with Anderson placing fifth and Grant Conger ninth.
In the 110 meter hurdles Brody Redd placed fourth, Nicholas Leavitt fifth and Mason Wheeler eighth.

Redd placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdle while Trevor Witter was ninth.
Gavyn Frederick placed third in the shot put with Ryan Bellavance finishing fourth.
Frederick won the discus with a throw of 114-9.
Tanner Hammons placed second in the high jump.

Jackson Burt was seventh in the pole vault with Caleb Anderson eighth and Gavin Hendricks ninth.
Hammons won the long jump and the triple jump.

The girls team had Talli Fairchild place fourth in the 400 meters.
Fairchild then won the 800 with a time of 2:45.89. Paige Fairchild finished second, Afton Nelson fifth, Olivia Leavitt sixth and Faith Kelly seventh.
Paige Fairchild placed third in the 1600 meters.

Allison Mills placed second in the 100 meter hurdles and second in the 300 meter hurdles. Taylee Bunch placed ninth.
Leyah Carvajal placed second in the shot put. Hailey Western was 4th. Claire Cox placed 7th while Addison Sherwood took 9th.

Carvajal won the Discus with a throw of 90 feet. Claire Cox placed second and Janet Werner eighth.
Cox was second in the high jump with Western sixth.
Abbie Hammons placed fourth in the long jump.

On Friday was the Vegas Elite Invitational. Ethan Witter placed third in the 800 meters, but he broke the 2:00 minute mark with a 1:59.75. Mordechai Yadegar placed fourth and Marcus Shambaugh sixth.
Leyah Carvajal placed fourth in the shot put while Hailey Western was fifth.

On Saturday MVHS athletes travelled to the Red Rock Running Club Invitational. Yadegar placed third in the 1600 meters with Shambaugh placing fifth.
Shambaugh went on to take second in the 3200 meter run.
Gavyn Fredrick placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 12-00.00.
Leyah Carvajal was fifth in the shot put and fifth in the discus.

Moapa Valley will host the final mid week meet of the year this Friday beginning at 4:30 pm.
