MVHS Track Hosts Weekday Meet (May 3, 2023)

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field program hosted its final home track meet on Thursday afternoon, April 25 bringing teams from Canyon Springs, Mater East and Coral Academy to town.

Degan Jones sprinted to a third place finish for the Pirates in the 100 meters with a time of 11:43.
Ethan Witter placed 8th in the 200 and 5th in the 400 meters.

Joseph Boss took 2nd in the 800 with Mitchell Stoker and Logan Harris placing 7th and 8th.
Marcus Shambaugh won the 1600 with a time of 4:51.04. Mitchell Stoker and Dustin Jones Christopher Houston placing 5th, 6th and 8th respectively.

Brody Redd, Nicholas Leavitt and Ellis Porter placed 4th, 5th and 7th in the 110 meter hurdles.
Trevor Witter, Marc Villa, Talon Schraft, Mason Wheeler and Leavitt finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th in the 300 meter hurdles.

Logan Stewart took first in the shot put with a throw of 47-04.00. Gavyn Fredrick, Ryan Bellavance, Tony Carillo 2nd, 3rd, 4th; with Hunter Neal at 7th.

Frederick won the discus with a throw of 131-09. Stewart placing 2nd and Carillo 3rd. Steele Meeks was 5th and Bellavance 6th.

Tanner Hammons, Degan Jones and Jacob Dominguez were 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the high jump/
Shambaugh, Jackson Burt, Dakota Bush and Leavitt were 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the pole vault.

The Pirates won the top three spots in the Long jump with Hammons taking first at 19-06 followed by Redd in second and Shayden Jensen in third. Tyson Redd, Marc Villa and Christopher Piro 6th, 7th and 8th in the event.
The girls team had Talli Fairchild place 3rd in the 200 meters.

Miriam Werner, Faith Kelly and Afton Nelson were 5th, 7th and 8th in the 800.
Brooke Sherwood took 2nd in the 1600 meters while Paige Fairchild and Kelly were 4th and 5th.
Allison Mills and Evelyn Ward were 2nd and 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles.
Mills, Talli Fairchild, Taylee Bunch, Tatum Yardley and Ariana Lester were 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in the 300 hurdles.

Leyah Carvajal won the shot put with Savanna Burt, Sienna Neilson, Addison Sherwood and Janet Werner taking 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th.

Carvajal won the discus while Sherwood, Werner, Ashlyn Fisher and Andrea Bell were 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th in the event.
Claire Cox won the high jump, Haylie Western and Miriam Werner were 3rd and 4th.

Aubrey Wolfley, Daphne Auger, Daisie Gordon and Clari Frei were 1st, 2nd, 3th and 4th in the Pole Vault.
Western and Miriam Werner were 2nd and 4th in the Triple Jump.
