The Moapa Valley High School baseball team won both their games last week in front of a home crowd. The first game was a last minute, 2-1 victory against Eldorado on Wednesday, April 26. Then Moapa faced Western High School on Saturday morning and brought down the Warriors, 7-3.
The Pirates pulled out a 2-1 win against Eldorado in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Eldorado had stepped out in the fourth quarter with a homerun over the left field fence by Dylan Hayden. That was all the scoring in the game until the final inning.

Misael Pelayo pitched a six hitter through six innings for the Sun Devils. He was pulled from the game and replaced by Carlos Hernandez who walked two and allowed two hits and two runs giving the Pirates the win.

Landon Wrzesinski was on fire at the plate leading the Pirates with 4 hits.

Wrzesinskis final hit at the bottom of the seventh was followed by two walks to load the bases. This set up an opportunity for Tyson Pettingill to step to the plate and hit a single on a line drive to right field. That was enough to drive in both Wrzesinski and Shandon Matheson and end the game with a Pirate victory.

The Western Warriors rolled into town Saturday and were beaten 7-3. Western took a first inning lead 1-0. The Pirates tied the game in the bottom half of the first 1-1.

Moapa Valley added two more runs in the second and two in each of the third and fourth innings. Western scored a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Wrzesinski drove in two RBIs to lead the Pirates. Chandler Evans had a couple of hits.

The Pirates remain in first place with the Bulldogs, but hold the top seed with the Pirates win two weeks ago over the Dawgs. The top seed will get home field advantage in the first two games of the league playoffs. The Pirates are 8-1 in league play and 17-6 overall.

The Pirates will host Cheyenne on Thursday in their final home game of the regular season; which is also senior night. Game time is 3:30 pm. Then on Friday the Pirates will travel to Clark for the final game of the regular season.
