MVHS SOFTBALL
By VERNON ROBISON
The Moapa Valley High School softball team travelled to Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 26 and clobbered the Sunrise Mountain Miners 15-0 in only three innings.
Not a single Miners batter got on base as MVHS pitcher Andie Woods went all three innings in the circle pitching a no-hitter for the Pirates.

Meanwhile the Pirate batting lineup staged an onslaught against the Sunrise Mountain defense with a total of 13 hits.

The Moapa team ran away with the game from the very beginning with 11 runs in the top of the first inning alone. They put up another four runs in the second inning.

Leading the Pirates was Lexi Fullman who got three hits and brought home 4 runners. Reagan Stankoski also got three hits with one RBI. Kyndall Longman and Emma Gollahan slated two hits and two RBI apiece. Wood drove in two runners on one hit.

The Pirates will end the regular season on Thursday, May 4 by hosting a big rivalry matchup against the #1 ranked; and thus far undefeated; Virgin Valley High School team. Game time is at 3:30 pm on the MVHS Field.

The Virgin Valley High School softball team continued its rampage through southern Nevada opponents as the Lady Bulldogs swept three road games last week over Clark, Basic and Lincoln County.

The Lady Bulldogs outscored their three opponents 32-1 in running their winning streak to 29 straight.

VVHS rolled over Clark, 16-0, on Wednesday April 25 in Las Vegas and then blanked 4A Basic, 3-0 on Friday in Henderson before beating up on 2A Lincoln County, 13-1, in Panaca on Saturday.
Pitching was a key for the Lady Bulldogs in the three victories. Riley Price hurled back-to-back shutouts for VVHS. The senior gave up two hits, walked four and struck out six against Clark and followed up by allowing Basic three hits while walking three and striking out 13.

Reggi Frei went all five innings against Lincoln County allowing two hits, walking nine and striking out 10 batters.

Against Clark, Price and Brooklin Montoya homered to lead the offense. Montoya had three hits and drove in three runs while Julia Leavitt added three hits, including a triple. Natalie Plancarte doubled and drove in three runs while Destiny Moaei and Frei each collected two hits.

In the win over Basic, Evia Toone had an RBI-double and scored a run with Ari Easton adding an RBI single and stolen base. Frei singled, stole a base and scored a run while Ana Tausinga singled and scored a run.

Against Lincoln County, Price belted a home run and doubled while driving in five runs. Easton doubled twice and drove in two runs while Davie Slack added a double and drove in two runs. Plancarte doubled and scored three runs while Tausinga had a double and drove in a run.

The victory improved the Bulldogs to 10-7 overall in their inaugural season with one match remaining against rival Moapa Valley on Tuesday in Overton.

Because Virgin Valley is playing as an independent this season, the team will not be eligible for postseason play. VVHS is expected to compete in 3A next school year.
