The Progress
The Virgin Valley High School softball team completely obliterated a visiting Valley High School team, 23-0, on Monday, May 8, in the first round of the Regional tournament played on the Bulldog field. The game ended in just three innings.
There was no mercy for the Vikings as Riley Frei took the circle for the Bulldogs, pitching two innings and allowing no hits while striking out 4. Julia Leavitt stepped in for Frei during one inning with no hits and striking out 3 more Valley batters.
Meanwhile, the Bulldog batters were relentless at the plate. Nearly everyone in the lineup got a hit in the game.
By the end of the first inning, the Dawgs had racked up 5 runs. They tallied 18 more in the second inning for the final score.
Ashley Anguiano led the Dawgs with 3 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI in the game. Ari Easton brought home 4 runners on two hits. Reggie Frei, Natalie Plancarte, Davie Slack and Valerie Lucero all got multiple hits.
Virgin Valley will advance to the second round hosting Pahrump Valley on Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm.
