Bulldogs Prep For Playoffs, Go 3-0 For Week

The Virgin Valley High School baseball team hope to repeat last year’s run to the Nevada 3A State Championship. The Dawgs prepped last week with wins over Eldorado 16-0; Parowan, Utah 9-2; and finally Sunrise Mountain 15-0 to end the regular season.

On Monday, May 1, Bryce Intagliata threw a shutout for the Bulldogs at Eldorado High School in Las Vegas. He allowed only one hit and struck out 6 in the game that lasted four innings.

On offense, a crowd of Bulldog batters connected with the ball multiple times from the plate. Chandon Jensen got 3 hits and 2 RBI. Kurt Felix also got 3 hits with 1 RBI. Mason Montoya chalked up 5 RBI in 2 hits. Jared Jensen sent 3 batters home on 2 hits. Stratton Waite got 2 hits and 2 RBI.
It was an easy victory for the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon back at home against.

Drake Wakefield led Bulldog batters with 3 hits and 1 RBI. Montoya got two hits and 2 RBI in the game.
Martin Jordan took the win for the Bulldogs, going three innings and allowing two hits while striking out 3. C. Jensen and Cameron Wright closed out the game in relief.

Against Sunrise Mountain on Thursday, there were few Bulldog batters who did not get hits. On offense, Braden Harris brought home 3 batters with 2 hits. Aidan Litzenberger also got 2 hits with 1 RBI.

Bulldog pitchers allowed no hits in the game. J. Jensen pitched the win for the Dawgs striking out 1. Waite and Felix came in for relief. Waite struck out 3 while Felix sent 2 batters back to the bullpen.
As of last week, Bulldogs have outscored 3A league competition by a wide margin 70-6 in their last five games.

The Bulldogs went 9-1 in 3A Mountain League play and 20-9 overall for the season. Their lone defeat was against archrival Moapa Valley 6-2 on April 21.

The Dawgs experienced two losses against 3A competition: a loss at Pahrump Valley and Moapa Valley.

They hosted SLAM at home on Monday May 8 at 4pm. That game didn’t make the press deadline for this edition but results will be reported at mvprogress.com.

The Bulldogs are led by infielders Drake Wakefield and Kurt Felix who batted over .500 for the season. Mason Montoya led the Mountain League with 41 runs batted in. Bryce Intagliata went 4-0 in league play with a 0.19 earned run average. With an amazing 65 strikeouts on 133 batters faced.

Favorites to advance to the 3A State Championship are Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley who went 9-1 in Mountain League and Boulder City and Pahrump Valley from the Desert League. The Eagles went 9-1 in league play and the Trojans split two games with the Eagles.
Only two teams will advance out of the South Regionals.

There are also 4 favorites from the 3A Northern Division to advance, South Lake Tahoe, Churchill County, Elko and Spring Creek.
The 3A Nevada State Championship will be held at Virgin Valley High School from May 18-20.
