The Moapa Valley High School baseball team was beaten on Tuesday afternoon, May 9, by a visiting Pahrump Valley team, 9-4, in the second round of the southern region tournament.
Pahrump Valley stepped out ahead early by scoring five runs in the first inning. The Trojans then added two more in the second for a 7-0 lead.
The Pirates couldn’t ever make up the deficit. They scored two in the bottom half of the second and another run in the third.
Moapa left the bases loaded in the third.
The Trojans scored a run in the fourth and six for a 9-3 lead.
The Pirates scored their final run in the sixth, then ended the game three up and three down in the seventh for the Trojan win.
Moapa Valley will play SLAM tomorrow at 4 pm in an elimination game at home.
Pahrump Valley will play will play at Boulder City who beat Virgin Valley 3-1 today.
