The Moapa Valley softball team took home a crucial 6-3 victory over the Clark Chargers on Thursday afternoon in Boulder City, to move forward toward the Southern Regional Finals.
After Moapa scored a single run in the top of the first, Clark stepped out to the lead at the bottom of the inning with two runs.
But the Pirates gathered steam in the third inning scoring another three runs to make the score 4-2, Moapa.
The Chargers tried to make up lost ground in the fifth inning scoring a single run. But that is as far as it went for Clark.
The Pirates put up two more runs in the final inning; then held the Chargers; three up, three down; for the final score.
Andie Wood pitched all seven innings for the Pirates allowing 3 hits and striking out 10.
The Pirates advance to play against Boulder City at 4:30 pm. The winner of that game will advance to the state tournament next week. But they still must take on the Virgin Valley powerhouse on Friday to determine the Southern Region Championship. That game will be played at 4 pm in Mesquite.
