The Progress
The Moapa Valley High School softball team continued its journey through the Southern Region consolation bracket by defeating a visiting Pahrump Valley team, 14-13, on Wednesday May 10 on the Pirate field.
Twice in the game, the Moapa team stepped out to commanding leads only to have the Trojans close the gap. The Pirates scored 7 runs in the second inning to lead Pahrump 9-2 early on. But the Trojans put up 4 runs in the third inning to stay in the running. The Pirates then put up another five runs in the next two innings for a 14-6 lead. But Pahrump staged a rally in the final inning, scoring 6 runs and narrowly losing the game.
Kylie Neil pitched for the Pirates allowing six hits and 13 runs while striking out six.
Tyelar Anderson notched 3 hits in 4 at-bats, and drove in 3 runners in the game. Kyndall Longman got 2 hits with 3 RBI. Reagan Stankoski, Andie Wood and Emma Cornwall all chalked up 2 hits apiece.
The Pirates will continue the tournament in Boulder City on Thursday where they will play against Clark at 2 pm. The winner of that game will advance to play Boulder City at 4:30.
