A legendary coach at Moapa Valley High School was recognized with honors last month at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
On November 25, Coach Jeff Keel was enshrined into the Southern Nevada Coaches Hall of Fame.
During halftime of the UNLV/San Jose State football game, Keel was recognized on the Raiders’ stadium field. He was presented with a plaque and a Hall of Fame ring.
Keel joins retired MVHS coach Marty Taggart and Virgin Valley High School coach Evan Wilson in the Hall of Fame.
Keel began teaching and coaching at Moapa Valley High School in 1974. He retired ian 2020.
He coached MVHS Boys Basketball for 12 years and Track and Field for more than 40 years.
Keel served as the defensive coordinator for the MVHS varsity football team continuously for all 46 years of his teaching career. During that span, the Pirates captured 10 state runner-up trophies and 10 State Championship titles.
