The Pirate boys team lost their seventh straight game last week in a round to Del Sol played at home on Friday, Dec. 15. The final score was 57-52. The Pirates are now 0-7 overall this season.
The team will take the holidays off and return after the new year on Jan. 2 to host Green Valley Christian Academy at 6:30 pm.

VVHS Girls Basketball

The Lady Dogs fell to Pahrump Valley for the second time in a week during a game played on Friday in Pahrump. The Trojans mowed down the Bulldogs with a final score of 51-17. The Dawgs had lost to the Trojans the weekend before at home by a score of 48-31. It was the tenth loss in 11 games played against the Trojans since 2016.
The Bulldogs fell behind 12-0 early in the first period before Bulldog Mady Wright hit a two pointer to get her team on the board.
Julia Leavitt hit a three ball to cut the lead to 13-5. The first period ended with the Lady Trojans up 15-5.

The Bulldogs would only make three points in the second period. Their shots just weren’t dropping in, giving the Trojans a 29-8 advantage going into the half.
The Bulldog stayed cold in the second half as they fell behind 47-15 after three periods of play.
The Bulldog dry spell continued in the fourth period as the team scored only two points the rest of the game.

Trojan reserves managed only four points making the final score 51-17.
The Lady Bulldog season record now stands at 4-6.
The Bulldogs had no answer for Pahrump Valley’s Avery Moore who on her own matched the Bulldogs team score at 17 points in the game.

The Dawgs will be away for the rest of 2023. They traveled to play Las Vegas High School on Monday, Dec. 18. Then they will participate in the 11th Annual Gator Winter Classic in Las Vegas next week.

VVHS Boys Basketball

The Bulldogs travelled to Boulder City on Friday, Dec. 15 and were defeated by the Eagles by a score of 80-59.
Four Eagles were in double figures led by Roman Rose with 25 points and L. Wright with 21 points.
No stats were available from the Bulldog team.
The Bulldog boys will host Elko on Thursday evening, Dec. 21 beginning at 7 pm.

Next week the Dawgs will host 12 teams for the first annual Mesquite Holiday Madness Tournament which takes place from Dec. 27-29. The Dawgs will open tourney play at 12:45 pm on Wednesday against Pahrump Valley.
