The Moapa Valley High School softball team played four games last week and came away with four wins.
The week of play started on Monday, Mar. 25 when the Pirates traveled to The Meadows School in Las Vegas and came away with a 30-9 win.
Andie Wood drove in six runs on four hits including a homerun, to lead the Pirates.
The Moapa team scored 9 runs in the first then added 8 in the second, one in the third and a big 12 in the fourth inning, ending the game with a total of 18 hits.
The Meadows scored 5 runs in the first.
Kylie Neil pitched all four innings for the win.
In the second game of the week, played Tuesday, the Pirates shut out the Valley Vikings, 17-0. The team scored 10 runs in the first then added 7 in the second. The game ended after the top of the third with the mercy rule.
Kyndal Longman had 3 RBI on two doubles, one in the first and the other in the second. Gracey Fullman also had 3 RBI’s in the game on two hits.
Wood got the win going two innings.
The third game of the week was against Del Sol in Moapa on Wednesday afternoon. The Pirates started with 6 runs in the first then added 11 in the second. Once again the game lasted two and a half innings with the mercy rule.
Wood got the win with two innings pitched.
In the final game of the week, the Pirates traveled to Cheyenne on Thursday and came home with a 23-1 win. The team chalked up 4 runs in the first and third innings with a big 15 run second inning that led to the win.
Longman and Emmie Cornwall each had 3 RBI for the Pirates.
At the end of the week, the Pirates were 11-7 overall and 2-0 in league play.
The team will travel to Democracy Prep on Thursday, April 4. Then they will face a tough Virgin Valley team on Friday in Mesquite with a 3:30 pm start time.
