The baseball teams of Moapa Valley High School and Virgin Valley High School criss-crossed the mesa last week in a two-game rivalry series. The Bulldogs swept the hard-fought series winning both in Overton and in Mesquite.

The Dawgs traveled to Moapa Valley on Monday, April 8 to face their arch rival Pirates in the first round.

The Pirates could not find an answer for Bulldog starter Bryce Intagliata who mowed down 11 Pirates to get the 12-2 win.

The game started well for the Pirates when Tyson Pettingill hit a solo homerun to center field.
But the Bulldogs eventually found their hitting bats. In the top of the third, Bryce Intagliata hit a homer to center field. Chandon Jensen drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Cade Litzenberger walked, scoring a run with bases loaded.

Kurt Felix drove in two runs with a homerun in the fourth for a 6-2 Bulldogs lead.
At the top of the fifth the Bulldogs scored 6 runs for a ten run lead. Intagliata singled, scoring a run. Montoya also singled, driving in two more runs. Then Litzenberger singled with the bases loaded, scoring three more runs.

On Wednesday, the Bulldogs returned home to face the Pirates again for the second round.
The Pirates came to play as they battled the Dawgs for seven innings. Evens so, the Moapa team fell 5-2 to their hosts.

Third baseman Chandon Jensen was the hero for the Dawgs going 3-4 with 4 RBI’s in a rare full game for the hot Bulldogs. Jensen had triples in the third and fifth innings for 2 runs each.
McOmie added 2 hits for the Dawgs driving in one run.

Montoya went 6½ innings for the win allowing 4 hits for the Pirates. Felix came in at the seventh inning for the save.
Lucas Pettingill led the Pirates going 2-3 in the loss.

The Bulldogs face a similar two-game series against Mojave this week. They will host the Rattlers on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 pm. On Friday, the Dawgs travel to Mojave for the second game.

The Pirates will lock in a two-game series this week with Mater East. They host the Knights on Wednesday at 3:30 pm. Then they travel to the Knights’ turf on Friday for part two.
