MV and VV track competes in midweek meet

Track and field teams from both Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley travelled to Faith Lutheran last week to compete in The Pirates traveled to Faith Lutheran on Tuesday, April 23, for their final midweek meet of the season.

The Pirate boys’ team won the meet with 107.5 points.
Degan Jones finished fourth place in both the 100 meters for the Pirates.
Bulldog sophomore Joaquin Ramirez took 2nd in the 400 meters at 54.95. MVHS junior Ben Arb finished third. Pirate senior Degan Jones took fourth.

Moapa Valley had the top three finishers in the 800. Hal Thompson won the race at 2:13.10. Chase Neilson took 2nd and Grant Conger took 3rd. Virgin Valley’s Dylan Barnum placed fourth.
Thompson also won the 1600 meters for the Pirates with Barnum and Gavin Hughes placing second and third for the Bulldogs. Conger placed fourth.

Barnum won the 3200 meters for VVHS. Pirate senior William Anderson took second and James Nunez, an MVHS freshman got 3rd place. Hughes placed fourth for the Bulldogs.
Moapa Valley’s Brody Redd placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a personal record of 16.45. Teammate Ryker Katich placed third.

Redd won the 300 meter hurdles at 45.86. Rion Zerkle placed second and Mason Wheeler, third, in the event for the Pirates.
Logan Stewart threw 51-6 in the shot put for second place. Gavyn Frederick placed fourth.
Stewart was second place in the discus. Frederick took third.
Zerkle placed third in the high jump.
Redd competed in the long jump and placed second.

Virgin Valley won the top three spots in the triple jump. Ethan Ofori won it jumping 41-3. Mark Davis was second and Kenyon Abbott was third.

In the girls competition, the Pirates placed 2nd in the meet with a score of 55.75.
In the 100 meter dash, Ari Easton placed third for Virgin Valley.
Jenna Walters finished second in the 800 meters for the Bulldogs. She also won the 1600 meters at 5:34.77.

MVHS senior Allison Mills won the 100 meter hurdles with teammate Taylee Bunch finishing third. Celeste Guzman finished fourth in the event for the Dawgs.
Mills and Bunch were also second and third in the 300 meter hurdles.

Audrey Fiso placing second in the shot put for Virgin Valley. Haylie Western placed third for the Moapa.
Fiso won the discus with a throw of 110-8. Moapa Valley’s Claire Cox placed third.
Cox won the high jump with a jump of 5-0.

Wynn Kelly placed third for Virgin Valley in the long jump. Moapa Valley’s Savanna Burt placed fourth.
Kelly won the triple jump going 30-6. MVHS sophomore Janet Werner placed 2nd. VVHS junior Charlotte Wagner placed third.
