MVHS Softball

The Pirate hosted the Pahranagat Valley Panthers on Thursday, April 25 and came away with a slim 6-5 win.
The Pirates had built a solid 4-1 lead by the end of the second inning.
But the Panthers roared back in the top of the 4th scoring 4 runs to take a one-run lead and force the Pirates to catch up.
The Pirates tied the score in the bottom of the same inning. Then they won the game when Andie Wood hit a sacrifice fly scoring the game winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Wood led the Pirates with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Emmy Cornwall and Brooklyn Reynolds also got two hits apiece. Deja Bradshaw brought in two runs on a single hit in the game.
The Pirates are 19-9 overall and 9-2 in league play. They played their final regular season game on Monday at Western.
VVHS SOFTBALL

The Lady Bulldogs capped off league play by blowing out Mater East Academy of Las Vegas, 16-1, on Thursday afternoon, April 25 at Hunter Park. The game was halted after four innings because of the NIAA mercy rule.
The win gives Virgin Valley a perfect 12-0 mark in the 3A South Desert League and also secures the overall No. 1 seed for the Lady Bulldogs in the upcoming 3A South Regional tournament.
Virgin Valley is 27-1 overall on the season and will close out regular-season play on Wednesday with a non-conference game against 2A Lincoln County in Panaca.
The Lady Bulldogs banged out 18 hits and scored in every inning in the triumph over Mater East.
Julia Leavitt homered and drove in five runs for Virgin Valley. Ana Tausinga had four hits with a triple and an RBI while Reggi Frei added four hits and drove in a run.
Davie Slack homered and drove in three runs for the Lady Bulldogs while Ava Noel also had a home run and two RBI. Natalie Plancarte chipped in with two hits and drove in two runs.
Frei went all four innings inside the circle allowing no hits while walking seven and striking out seven.
Virgin Valley will open up 3A South Regional play on Monday, May 6 by hosting The Meadows of Las Vegas at 4 pm at Hunter Park.
As the top seed, the Lady Bulldogs, who have won the tournament the last three years, will have home field advantage throughout the double-elimination event. The tournament will run daily through May 10 concluding with the championship game that day.
MVHS Track & Field

The Pirates traveled to Liberty High School on Saturday, April 28, for the Southern Nevada cross country and track coaches’ association invitational.
Mordechai Yadegar won the 1600 meters with a time of 4:25.47 He placed third in the mile.
William Anderson was third in the 3200.
Brody Redd placed third in the 110 meter hurdles.
Redd also finished third in the triple jump. Tanner Hammons was fourth.
Caleb Anderson was second in the pole vault and Hammons won the high jump at 5-8.
Logan Stewart broke the MVHS school record for the shot put with a throw of 54-7.
He placed fourth in the discus.
Taylee Bunch placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles for the girls team.
Allison Mills placed third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Claire Cox was second in the discus.
